This news made me so angry I had to share

From the email Lori sent to fellow members and factory farm fighters this morning:

This news made me so angry I had to share it with you: The list of Iowa’s impaired waters has now reached 628 polluted rivers, lakes and streams, according to new DNR data; the highest recorded number in 16 years, and up from 606 polluted water bodies just two years ago, and up from 542 in 2008. That’s a 16 percent increase in polluted waterways just in the last four years. What really gets me going, though, is the fact that Gov. Branstad’s “Condition of the State” address is only four days away, and there is no indication that he will even mention clean water, much less propose real solutions like local control, stronger permitting standards, increased separation distances, and strong Clean Water Act permits for all of Iowa’s 8,000 factory farms.Even worse, that same day the DNR’s Environmental Protection Commission (EPC) is scheduled to vote on a “hands-off” rule proposed by a heavyweight corporate lobby group – the Iowa Association of Business and Industry – to weaken factory farm enforcement.

I want to live in a state with clean water and I bet you do too. That’s why it’s so critically important that everyday Iowans, just like you and me, mobilize at the State Capitol on Tuesday for our “Money Out, People In:  Kickoff at the Capitol” day of action. Along with our allies in organized labor, we are the “put people first” counterweight to Branstad’s corporate ag agenda, and we will march on the EPC meeting to demand a crack down on factory farm pollution so we get the clean air and water every Iowa family deserves.

This one’s too important to sit out. Can I count on you to join me and hundreds of like-minded folks at the capitol on Tuesday when we speak truth to power? Please RSVP here: http://cciaction.org/in-the-news/farming-environment/join-us-money-out-people-in-kick-off-at-the-capitol/
